Blog: Artist Story Series - Why I Create

April 29, 2018

The creative talent in the Northwestern corner of Minnesota is well-known to the area.  An important part of the En Liten Svensk (A Little Swedish) Shoppe's mission is to provide a place where the artists and their stories are recognized and celebrated.  My grandmother, Frances Karlsson, was a beloved regional artist and her legacy lives on in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  The love and appreciation I have for all genres and expressions of art can be traced back to my grandmother.... a few of her pieces will actually be for sale in our Shoppe to inspire us and to remind us of the many things she taught us.

I plan to use this space - including the Blog and various other online platforms - to highlight local talent and our collaborators at the Shoppe.  We will tell their stories, including how inspiration came to them and details about how they got started and their creative process.

The Bead Gypsy Studio is the backbone of our space.  I know this because the Bead Gypsy also happens to be my mom, Rebecca Rosenkrans.

The Bead Gypsy's story, along with all of our artist collaborators will be featured in the "Artist Story: Why I Create" series.

A list of our artist collaborators at the Shoppe include:

I encourage you to watch for the "Artist Story" series in the coming months and to reach out to the artists and support their work.  I've been fortunate to get to know these wonderful folks and it is easy to see why they are so successful.

It is a bit mind-boggling to me that we are only three short weeks away from the En Liten Svensk (A Little Swedish) Shoppe opening!  May 18th is the date!  We are so grateful for the supportive and affirming feedback we've received thus far.  We are looking forward to seeing you!
